Therapy For Teens

Teenagers are great BS detectors, so it’s especially important to be real with them and gain their trust. When trust is established, this special kind of therapeutic relationship can be a powerful force of good in their lives.

Let’s face it, there’s just some stuff you don’t want to talk to your parents about. As a warm, empathic, adult they can trust, I provide boundaries around safety, and help them navigate the rocky rapids of growing up.

In my work with teens, I draw from expressive arts therapy, drama therapy and somatics to create an experience that is both dynamic and deeply healing.

It’s all about the relationship!

Studies show, what’s more important than the therapist’s school training, treatment methods or the style of therapy they practice is the relationship they form with their client.

Does your teenager feel comfortable with this therapist? Do they get a good vibe? Do they feel like they can trust them? These questions matter most when choosing who your teenager’s therapist is.

The best predictor for successful therapy is in the therapeutic relationship.

How to Get Started

STEP 1

To start, let’s talk on the phone for 15-25 minutes. You can tell me a little bit about what’s bringing your teen to therapy, and I can answer any questions you may have about me or my services.

STEP 2

Next we will schedule a first session. I like to think of the first three sessions as a trial period. This gives me a chance to get to know your teen, and assess how I can best help them.

STEP 3

We will keep in contact along the way. Periodically, I will ask to meet with you (the parents) in a private session to discuss your teen’s therapeutic progress and advocate for their needs.

Sometimes, I am asked to consult with other members of an adolescent’s resource team (teachers, tutors or other family members)

Fees

$160 per session

Sessions are 50-minutes

Therapy sessions are offered weekly, or more as needed.

I do not currently accept insurance.
